Technology that supports the reforms
To enable credit accumulation and transfer, to utilise the variables of the Rules of Combinations, to personalise learning, to move towards self regulation, to simplify the collection of data and to enable individuals to take ownership of their own information single sources of accessible data are required.
The National Database of Accredited Qualifications (NDAQ) contains details of qualifications that are accredited by the government's regulatory organisations in England (Ofqual), Wales (DCELLS) and Northern Ireland (CCEA). This single on-line source will enable learners, employers, providers and communities to identify existing qualifications. This database can be found at http://www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk/index.aspx
In the materials section below there is a document that explains how to find QCF qualifications on the database.
The Managing Information Across Partners (MIAP) programme
will streamline the collection, handling and sharing of information on learning and achievement for education and training organisations. MIAP provides three central services
UKRLP -
The UK Register of Learning Providers (UKRLP) will link information sources on education and training organisations in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Learner Registration Service - This is an internet-based service which enables education providers to generate a Unique Learner Number (ULN) for anyone over the age of 14 in UK education and training.
Learner Record -
The learner record is an aggregation of records about an individual’s learning that has already been collected by UK education bodies. The initial focus for the learner record will be on qualifications.
Further information on MIAP can be found at www.miap.gov.uk
